Yes, Anastasia seems to be about the jealous resentment between two sisters or friends. The title itself explains quite a bit. For any of us that have watched Cinderella (it was my favorite movie as a child), there is this part where the evil stepsister is calling upon Cinderella, and Cinderella replies, exasperated, "Yes, Anastasia." So starting out in the song, it talks about the loss of her father "Poppy don't go" is about how she is being left alone. "show me the things I've been missing, show me the ways I've forgot to be speaking...show me how to button up buttons that have forgotten they're buttons." He can't be there to help her grow up. So she is left with people that don't love her. They think that they are so much braver and stronger than her, but she knows better. "we'll see how brave you are, we'll see how fast you'll be running" is how she knows how weak they are. They can't face their own problems as she can. The jealousy and anger shines through when she sings "thought she deserved no less than she'd give, well happy birthday her blood is on my hands." This girl was so mean to her that she thought she'd give her the same treatment. "It's really a shame, cause i did like that dress." She only feels shame that she got blood on a dress that she coveted. It makes sense.
